On September 18, 2011 I literally jumped off my bed. There was great news.

Just hours before the clock struck 12am, and the next day began its quest, the Queen of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit tweeted that she will be relocating back to India. What could be better than this?

What can this mean for Bollywood? For years now, there has been talk that Bollywood has been missing that one great face that resembled and represented the Indian culture and it's rich traditions, that the industry that was once known for elaborate color and intricate dance was missing its muse. The woman who was considered sheer poetry in motion with her intense and intimate facial expressions and fluid dance movements was blissfully content in marriage and motherhood with her relocation to Denver, Colorado in the U.S. She was missing from the limelight.

Almost 8 years later, she made a comeback in the Yash Raj Film's musical, Aaja Nachle that teased audiences with Madhuri's sheer magnitude on screen and her ability to be so authentic in her portrayal of a character after being away for so many years. Not to mention, Madhuri is synonymous with song and dance with the string of hit dance numbers she moved to from the late 80's to 90's. Aaja Nachle could not be without a hit dance number either.

"Aaja Nachle" from Aaja Nachle

During her brief spotlight in 2007 with Aaja Nachle , Madhuri claimed that she never left the film industry, she just decided to take some time for herself. In 2010, three years later she came back on the small screen with hit dance reality television shows Jhalak Dikhlaa Ja and has kicked off 2011 with Food Food's Maha Challenge. Yet, each time she takes a break or begins work after a prolonged gap...she is touted to be making a "comeback". This is just proof that her absence is felt in the film industry. The Bollywood audiences want Madhuri around all the time. Her acting prowess and her dance capabilities make her one of the very few natural talents India has today, especially in the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood.

What's more? Madhuri's hit dance numbers such as "Choli Ke Peeche", "Dhak Dhak Karne Laga", "Maar Dala" (only to mention a few) continue to live on. They have become cult classics, hailed as emblems in Bollywood cinema, dance moves and facial expressions that current actresses aspire to recreate. Also, their timeless popularity has also secured Madhuri a spot in the hearts of the youth and current movie goers - everyone, young and old know who Madhuri is.

It's just fitting that she returns to India. Bollywood needs an actress of her caliber and many of the actresses today need another reason to try harder at what they do.

Thu, 15 Sep 2011 13:24:16 -0700 Katrina-Imran. Bollywood's Hot new pair! http://xavierpop.posterous.com/katrina-imran-bollywoods-hot-new-pair http://xavierpop.posterous.com/katrina-imran-bollywoods-hot-new-pair

It was only a matter of time before Bollywood lovers saw the pairing of Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan.

Both actors have enjoyed a successful run in the land of Bollywood so far and their coming together in a Yash Raj Films outing seems fitting. I must say, I never thought of them working together, it just never crossed my mind. However, now that I see them together, they look good and they have great chemistry from what can be seen from the trailers and movies reviewers have been raving about their on screen chemistry.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan translates into English as "My Brother's Wife"! Scandalous, I know! After having watched Bollywood films for, well, my entire life and being familiar with the films that are churned out of Yash Raj Films...I don't think this film is going to be much of a scandalous affair - it's Bollywood after all. The posters are colorful and the trailer seems pleasing.

Let's hope this turns out to be a hit instead of a poorly scripted Bollywood affair as we are unfortunately used to seeing from the leading production house these past few years.

Mon, 12 Sep 2011 14:14:03 -0700 Facebook goes BOLLYWOOD! http://xavierpop.posterous.com/facebook-goes-bollywood http://xavierpop.posterous.com/facebook-goes-bollywood

Yes, it's true...Facebook goes Bollywood, but not in the way some of us may think!

Popular production house Yash Raj Films recently launched Y-Films, its production and distribution division focused on creating films for youth by challenging norms and denoting boundaries - and it's pretty clear with their latest offering.

Mujhse Fraaanship Karoge brings together the world of Bollywood cinema, today's youth and technology driven Indian society and the culture of Facebook together on screen - for the first time!

This seems like it's going to be a very interesting watch. At this point, the main draws for this film are its Facebook inspired theme and script and its appeal to the youth. The cast of newbies may or may not be a draw too!

To be short, good films can make huge stars out of newcomers in Bollywood, and bad movies...well, in most cases have you saying "Goodbye" sooner than you expect. So far, Mujhse Fraaanship Karoge only screams WIN-WIN!

Totally love the way they incorporated the credits in the trailer with familiar Facebook features and pages. The first look poster is awesome too!

Wed, 31 Aug 2011 07:04:36 -0700 Akon sings in Hindi!! - Ra.One: Wanna Be My Chamak Challo? http://xavierpop.posterous.com/akon-sings-in-hindi-raone-wanna-be-my-chamak http://xavierpop.posterous.com/akon-sings-in-hindi-raone-wanna-be-my-chamak

And the wait is finally over, well for the time being that is.

This is a feast for our eyes.

A 1 minute and 30 second trailer has just been dropped for the soon to be hit single "Chamak Challo", the theme for the upcoming Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Ra.One  (which beats out the 15 second teaser trailer released earlier this week).

What makes this song so good?

First, Akon sings the track. Second, Akon sings in Hindi. Third, Shahrukh Khan, (also known in the Bollywood world as King Khan).  Mr. Shahrukh Khan is all set to star in yet another action thriller that is rumored to be India's first 3D film as well.

Let's wait and see what King Khan has in store, but for now, let's enjoy this catchy song trailer.
